It was a 357-point belting that saw Avenel return to the winners’ list on Saturday.
The struggling Ardmona outfit didn’t get a look in against the Swans which recorded a 358-1 win.
Cael McCarthy was unstoppable up forward, bagging an enormous 12 goals for the red and white.
Nick Goodwin followed suit to score six of his own, while Jake Sutherland was a stand out in the ruck.
Avenel was in desperate need of a lift after a couple of weeks of consecutive losses to Stanhope and Nagambie.
‘‘It’s been a massive confidence boost for the boys,’’ assistant coach Kasey Duncan said.
‘‘A couple of guys got to have a go in a different position but we pretty much stuck to our normal structure to get some practice in.’’
You would never guess by the score that the Swans had a number of players out to rest for the week.
This follows on from last week when the side was heavily undermanned against Stanhope.
‘‘We’re expecting to get some back for Violet Town next weekend,’’ Duncan said.
It was another tough week for Ardmona, with Avenel scoring the largest winning margin against them so far this season.
With the halfway mark of the season now reached, Avenel is currently sitting at ninth position on the KDFL ladder.
With three wins and six losses, the Swans will be looking to back up their winning performance against Violet Town.
‘‘They have some good players but we’re confident going in and hope it will help push our finals chances,’’ Duncan said.
Violet Town are coming off the back of a 108-point-loss to Dookie.
Avenel will take on Violet Town at Violet Town Recreation reserve on Saturday at 2.05pm.
