The Nagambie Rowing Club’s reputation was kept in place when nine rowers made the six-hour long trek to Wentworth in NSW to participate in the Wentworth Mildura Rowing Regatta on the Easter weekend.
Nagambie Rowing Club’s Dave Andrews said he was thrilled to be among the winning teams.
‘‘A big surprise was the under-17 female single sculls final, won by Nagambie’s Saffy Lazenby, who is only 15 years old,’’ he said.
‘‘Saffy had to win a tough heat before rowing again against a class field in the final.
‘‘Nagambie Rowing Club is starting to build up a solid base of dedicated rowers, who are out most mornings when the sun is thinking about coming up. They also back it up with ergos on Tuesday nights.’’
The club’s rowers are looking to improve their racing in the next few weeks before the Masters State Rowing Championships in Nagambie on the last weekend in April.
