Hoping to improve

September 22, 2017

With one of our C-grade sides playing off in the grand final and our B-grade side also playing finals in 2016-17, Seymour Cricket Club is hopeful of further improvement in the coming season.

The club hopes to return to the A-grade competition in the near future.

This year’s committee consists of Brett Gordon (president), Jake Williamson and Pudd Saunders (vice-presidents), David Drummond (treasurer), Jason Brown (secretary), Damian Murphy (coach) and Michael Woldhuis (captain).

The committee has been hard at work securing sponsorships, grants, players, as well as running and organising pre-season training and practice matches.

Seymour Cricket Club secured a grant from AusNet services to assist with improvement works to the club rooms.

We look forward to further improving the facilities with additional grants and with the assistance of our partners, such as major sponsor, the Royal Hotel.

This season will be the first full season with them on board and we look forward to furthering relations with them and with all our commercial partners.

A practice match was played on Sunday against Royal Park Brunswick Cricket Club and the available players put in a solid showing.

The early season turf hit-out was beneficial and enjoyed.

Training sessions for the upcoming season are on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 4.30pm and Sunday mornings until the season begins.

All past, current and potential new players are welcome.

Anybody looking to enjoy a game of cricket this upcoming season is invited along to Seymour Cricket Club’s player registration night to enjoy a free barbecue tomorrow from 6pm at the club rooms at Chittick Park.

More information on times for Milo cricket and junior cricket will be provided.

Don’t forget Murph’s marvellous monthly meal on the first Friday on every month, kicking off at 7pm.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the club throughout 2017-18.
