Nagambie’s under-17s advanced to the grand final after defeating Stanhope by 16 goals in the preliminary final.
The Lakers were impressive against the Lions, working hard to set the tone after a tight first quarter.
Tied at nine goals a piece, Nagambie began its second quarter with renewed enthusiasm.
Nagambie forced two centre-pass turnovers, thanks to its superb on-court pressure, to help them open up a four-goal lead at half-time.
Alicia McLeod put in a best-on-court performance for the Lakers.
Her efforts in defence put a halt to Stanhope’s goalers and she linked well with Nagambie’s midcourters when transferring the ball into attack.
Nagambie broke away in the second half securing a 44-28 win and a place in this weekend’s grand final.
The Lakers will look to carry this run of form into Saturday’s match against Violet Town, which has so far remained undefeated this season.
