Coaching programs for juniors

Caleb and Micah Close practice some stroke technique exercises with coaches Christine and Chris.

Activate Nagambie’s junior table tennis coaching programs have been progressing well of late and it’s looking likely that our district will boast some top-class table tennis exponents in future years.

Even though our programs are only just becoming established, we already have seven regular junior players coming along to our Thursday after-school sessions each week at Nagambie Mechanics Hall.

While our juniors are all primary school age at the moment, we also offer coaching services to secondary school ages.

We have had children as young as five come along for a go and we have structured activities to teach any age or ability.

Christine and Chris are both current Victorian representatives and have recently been selected to play in the Victorian over-40s veterans team at this year’s Australian Table Tennis Championships, to be held in Mandurah, Western Australia later this year.

As well as table tennis ability and understanding of the sport, they are both qualified coaches and this Activate Nagambie initiative represents great value for any young sportsperson keen to develop their table tennis skills and general sporting co-ordination.

Two 45-minute sessions are offered, starting at 3.45pm and 4.45pm every Thursday for just $5 per person, per session.

The later session is timed to accommodate school bus travellers arriving back in town, which would suit interested secondary students.

For more information, phone Chris on 0428398026, Christine on 0499995380, email activatenagambie@gmail.com or search Facebook for Activate Nagambie.
