Queensland Trainer Paul Butterworth is celebrating with a huge team of owners after becoming a Group One winner, with exciting juvenile Capital Gain winning the JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Doomben last weekend.
‘‘I think he’s a Derby horse, but the Victorian Derby is too close, so he’ll have a break and get ready for the AJC Derby,’’ Butterworth said.
Capital Gain was purchased by his trainer in conjunction with Pharout Syndications for $50000 at October’s Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YOs in Training sale, just weeks after breezing up at the Seymour Racing Club in 2016.
Capital Gain was first presented at Seymour last year for moffatt breaking and pre-training and looked a promising youngster clocking 10.24 seconds under rider Jake Duffy.
Upon holding the breeze-ups at Seymour, Magic Millions Victorian manager Tim Brown said the breeze-ups were the best ever held in Victoria with quick times.
‘‘The Seymour Racing Club synthetic track presented the best ever surface for the Victorian breeze-ups,’’ he said.
A total of 41 two-year-olds breezed up over 200m in 2016, which will again be held at the Seymour Racing Club on September 22 from 8am, being the first session of breeze-ups for the 2018 Magic Millions 2YOs in Training Sale to be held on the Gold Coast.
