Avenel has kept up its mid-season resurgence with a confidence-boosting win over Rushworth.
A hotly contested first quarter saw both sides go at it and the Swans clinging to a narrow nine-point lead at quarter time.
The home side took the advantage in the second though as the Swans booted six goals to Rushworth’s one.
Things went from bad to worse for the Tigers as the Swans, now with the momentum, looked to place their stranglehold on the game.
Andrew Green stepped up to kick six majors to back up his 10-goal haul from last week, while Cael McCarthy and Chris Burton kicked five apiece to sink the Tigers’ chances.
A huge 15-goal second half handed the Swans another percentage boosting win.
Michael McKenzie found the form that has made him one of the Swans’ standouts in recent seasons and played one of his best games for the year, while Nick Goodwin and Don Stirling were also relentless from the opening bounce.
Having rediscovered the kind of blood-letting attitude that took them to last year’s minor premiership, the Swans could be a chance against the top-tier sides going into the back half of the season.
